Background
I started travelling to Nigeria in 2018. It became my greatest challenge, my most remarkable discovery, and the deepest transformation I have experienced as a human being.
The conditions I worked under were the most demanding of my life, triggering waves of soul-searching. It was a time when I came to know myself better than I ever had before.
Professionally, Nigeria challenged every assumption and preconceived notion I had about the meat industry. I encountered systems of meat processing and food safety that were intricate, effective, and developed entirely independently of those in Europe or the Americas. To solve even the most basic challenges, I had to rediscover the science behind what I do at a far more fundamental level than I ever imagined would be required. I had to re-think everything!
Nigeria was not only the site of my professional awakening. It also became the platform for my greatest personal growth. It was during my time in Nigeria that Kristi and I met. From here, I began travelling to Austria, where our work initially focused on uncovering the astonishing ancient journeys of humankind from both an anthropological and meat science perspective. On 23 August 2025 we will become husband and wife. This single fact is the crowning joy of our lives!
In Nigeria, I met some of the finest human beings on the planet. They are true salt of the earth people, standing shoulder to shoulder with those I came to know in the Austrian mountains and at the southernmost tip of Africa.
I have decided to host all the articles I wrote about Nigeria, and those inspired by this extraordinary land, in one place.

Hintergrund
