The Protector of the Creed
The Creed has been associated with the Hallstatt sword for a long time. The sword itself is a ceremonial weapon from the Hallstatt period and was discovered in grave 573 by Johann Georg Ramsauer in 1857. This double-edged blade, which widens in the middle, measures approximately 107 cm in length without the pommel.
The sword’s grip is crafted from African ivory, adorned with amber plaques in fine geometric patterns sourced from the Baltic coast. These are underlaid with tin foils that enhance the amber’s golden glow. This combination makes the sword shine and creates a beautiful contrast with the white ivory and the silvery iron blade. The ivory used for the grip was brought to Hallstatt by Phoenician traders from Africa to Etruria in central Italy and then transported to central Europe.
The sword is kept in the Hallstatt period collection at the Natural History Museum in Vienna.
It is believed that the Hallstatt sword acts as the creed’s visual representation as it embodies the power of listening to your soul, being grounded in confidence, and crafting your own unique future. The sword becomes the protector of the creed and its enforcer in the life of those who access it. It symbolizes the resolve and clarity that come from living in alignment with one’s inner truth. The Hallstatt sword, with its historical and spiritual resonance, serves as the “Protector of the Creed,” safeguarding the principles of living fearlessly, following one’s path, and acting with determined resolution.
The Creed
The Creed consists of three simple truth or wisdom sayings, grouped into one. The last saying, “Determined Resolutely!”, makes it clear that they form a unit.
No Fear!
"Wisdom speaks with a clear voice.
Banish fear from your heart.
Stand firm in your fathers' land.
Yield only to your own soul."
My Way!
"Wisdom cries out, "Let your soul be guided by divine light.
Trust comes from your soul.
It communes with the divine light and wisdom from your ancestors.
You need no other!"
Note: Wisdom does not call on anyone to act from pride but from humble wisdom. Follow what is in your heart and what your own soul, in union with God and the wisdom from your forefathers.
Determined resolutely!
"Give heed to me, Oh people of the earth.
Wisdom instructs you to live with clarity and purpose.
Act with conviction.
Those who banish fear and see the eternal ways imprinted on their heart,
soak these in the spirit of determination and resolve.
Then will you live forever in the land of your gods."
Note: Some versions read “Then will you live forever in the land of your God,” possibly reflecting a later interpretation which identifies these words with the Christian God. Most agree that this later interpretation enriches the tradition and narrows it down, thus giving it a greater and richer context.
Ancient Wisdom
The Hallstatt sword dates from the Hallstatt period (800-600 BC), an era marked by significant cultural and technological advancements. Academic discussions surrounding the timing and origins of The Creed suggest that it may be much older than the Hallstatt period and that earlier swords may have been its protector.
Some scholars propose that parts of the creed could have been handed down as far back as 14,000 years ago, reflecting ancient wisdom that has been preserved and passed through generations. This ancient context enriches the creed, suggesting that its principles of fearlessness, self-determination, and inner guidance are timeless truths that have resonated with humanity for millennia.
