One more photo of my great grandfather in front of his hut in Ceylon where he was a POW in the Anglo-Boer War. He is back row on the right. It's amazing to see the photos from the old coloured cameras they had back then! 🤣🙈🤣

I scanned and digitally enhance an iconic photo of my Oom Jan Kok (Kokkie) taken on thei Stillehoogte farm.

Here is a classic one of La'tjie from 2015!

The history of finely comminuted meat took front and centre stage for me today. Originally mortar and pestle were used to grind it finely! A friend alerted me to this amazing history which I will look into more over the weekend. Here is a clipping crom a 1912 newspaper report from America. The invention was centuries earlier in Italy but wow! I will reference that exact origin!

There has been lots of debate internally about the role JH Hofmeyer, JBM Hertzog and JC Smuts had in building current South Africa. I am always fascinated when I find their fingerprints in unexpected places. In giving this quote I do not comment on the positive or negative implications for the future of South Africa (present from our perspective). That everything that is today had "reasons" in the past t is what I want to highlight. Even load shedding, level 6 and bankrupt municipalities today will influence and shape South Africa 100 years from now.

Just finished for the day. Been at it since 9:00 this morning. Now, Johnny is Walking. What a week! Tomorrow I travel. What a country! And Bashir berought fresh fish!

Many years ago I went to India with Francois Auret. Tonight i sat talking to a friend from Kochi in India. He worked on the boilers of Amalgam who hosted Francois and me. His houses are not far from where these photos were taken! Myself and Sanesh work together on the meat factory project. The world is big and small and crazy!!

My fat replacer came out beautifully - more stable than ever!! Even at high temperatures it was soft but did not melt away! Ok, the pan is scratched but its the only one my wife will let me use for my experiments!! 🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍😇😇😇
